We had our board meeting tonight and have decided to follow the USA/BMX State Cup Series.

There was much discussion about the NBL series itself, we agreed it was a  fantastic well run family event that we all looked forward to each summer. We talked about the future of the state series(s), uncertainty with what direction USA/BMX is ultimately going to encourage us to go and how many riders would continue to be follow the traditional series.

The decision came down to several issues. What we have put our racers through in the last year. What changes we as tracks have all been forced to undergo. What does the future hold for BMX in Michigan. We decided that we’ve made so many changes up to this point that we may as well start clean in May ’12 with everyone on the same page and learning together.

We also agreed with others that we’d like to see the board stay organized to assist with issues that may arise and to help us grow and maintain unity throughout the state

Thanks to all the board member past and present for building BMX in Michigan to the force it is today.

We have begun the process of filling in the ditch along the parking lot. The project is under way now and will be complete soon. If mother nature disagrees it will be complete in the spring.

As of November 10th we have a new domain name. We are now greatlakesbaybmx.org. Our old domain will stay alive for a few months with a notice of change. For any other tracks out there, we found a hosing server that is free for non-profit. They are Dreamhost.com and are worth a look. Many changes are ahead for the web site and our internet presence, so stay tuned.
